Nude Cowboy in Profile Delineation

The delineation of this drawing is very subtle. Only a few of the contour lines are standing alone. All of the other lines are worked into the shade and shadows made by hatch lines. The medium of charcoal pencil is the key factor in this soft line work.

The cowboy is naked in profile wearing his 10-gallon hat, looking downward. There is a sadness in this image that speaks of loneliness. The cowboy is in dark shadows, yet he possesses an almost three-dimensional figure. This is due to the use of closely aligned hatch lines.

Delineation of Shirtless Gay Cowboy in the Sun

My focus in drawing figures is use both contour and hatched lines. Contour lines are bold and clearly layout the shape of the figure. Whereas hatched lines are short closely aligned lines that are used for making shade and shadows.

In this rendering you can see how the bold contour line of his right arm all the way up to his head strongly bring the form of the figure together. There is strength in the drawing. Delineation is the key to success in making a good drawing not copying an image.

Note how strong the shade and shadows under his right arm and left pectoral are. The area brings out the three-dimensional form of the figure. The hatched lines on the shirtless gay cowboy in the sun are everywhere and placed with exactitude.

Naked Herdsman As Gay Sex Art

This pen & ink drawing strongly suggest the erotic. The face of the figure is not show at all, yet sexual allure is radiating from his body. There are no unzipped pants, or penis showing at all because the naked herdsman is suggesting sex. Rather, the figure is merely suggesting sexual enticement at its best.

The cowboy has long been a persona in the gay community for sexual attraction. I have made it a point to use contour lines to bring out the fit male persona of this fine-looking young man. Just to catch a glimpse of his eyes has you captivated because you know what is going on in his mind.

This is a pencil rendering that makes use of both contour lines and hatched lines of the bare-chested male. The strength of the drawing comes from the contour lines, however, the depth of the image’s rests on the hated lines.

When you look closely at the rendering you can see that the hatch lines on his torso are even and light. Whereas the hatch lines on his blue jeans are bold which give strength to the drawing. The eyes of the bare-chested male here are the focal point of the drawing. Eyes capture the spirit of the rendering and bring the viewer into the mind of the figure.

Sex is best when it is suggested and that is what I do when I draw my men and boys. The bottom line in this drawing of the bare-chested male is sex. Sex calls all of us and we cannot escape its hold on us. Keeping the figure in a position of suggestion rather than overt pornography bring lasting pleasure.
