When I make BDSM drawings and watercolors I use a lot of contour lines because they bring out the outline of the figures in the scene. The central figures in the drawing are always in the front of the picture plane because they can be seen clearly. The contour lines do a good job of bringing life to the figure because they are accurate. When I am drawing many figures in a gay rape or jail gang bang scene I ease up on the boldness of the contour lines.

Generally, most of the drawings and watercolors are in a dark.  The jail and dungeon scenes are filled with shade and shadows so as to evoke the sordid and mysterious. Many of the renderings have deep set contour lines to bring out the tension. Tension in a BDSM drawing of gay male torture takes place in dark spaces. As mention just above, most of the BDSM scenes take place in prisons or dungeons which are dark and not well lit. The need for hatch lines in these renderings is crucial because they offer dark shade and shadows for the drawings.
